I'm getting ready to buy a side by side, and I will obviously need a trailer. As with anything, I am sure there are good ones, and bad ones. I will frequently trailer it 450 miles. Is there anything in particular I need to look for in a trailer? Or is/are there a brand(s) that have a good reputation? Or anything or any brand I need to avoid?
Should be simple enough, but I'd rather do my due diligence on the front end than regret it later...which is why I seek the wisdom of GD. |

I've been happy with my Tractor Supply 5'X8', for the price it works well.
Use it for my quad and does double duty for my kakays. The rear ramp folds into the trailer for when it's not needed. http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/carry-on-trailer-mesh-floor-utility-trailer-5-ft-x-8-ft-2-000-gvwr

Forgot to mention...it's a large side by side...Polaris Ranger 900 6 seater. I will not be getting a tilting trailer. My Pioneer 700 4 seater does fine with mine. I could see it both ways. I mounted a boat winch on the front rail of my trailer one less ratchet strap to fuk with. |

I have a 5x10. I can get 2 atv's on it, one sideways and one straight in. its really tight and requires manhandling. I'd get a 6x12 for your application. that way you will have room for gear, gas and a spare and a bike or two. get a trailer with a tailgate/ramp and if feasible, also a ramp for side loading, as that feature is nice if you are hauling atv's or bikes. don't get the tilt bed. if you have other items that are heavy on the trailer, it wont tilt unless you remove them and its a pain to load. unloading is no problem, loading is. |
I have this Featherlite in the 10' size but they make it in 12' and even 14'. I don't have to worry about paint or rust. It only ways weighs 675# and the gate folds flat when empty so it tows very light. I cut the factory shin gouger tail lights off and installed some LED lights on the back instead. It's been a great trailer.

Go aluminum for sure. Mission makes great trailers as well if you have any of those dealers near you. Also remember you may be able to negotiate a few hundred $$$ as well if you are into that kinda thing. I used to be a mission and some other brands dealer when I was in the car business. |

And a short chain to tie up the axle when you lose a wheel bearing. Quoted:

Tandem axles on whatever size you need. Not sure if serious on either. Tandem axle seems like overkill, but that's why I'm asking. |

If you jave tandems you can pull tje tire off the failed hub, tie it off with aforementioned chain, and be on your merry way. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

The Mission trailers are great. The problem I am finding is that this time of year, NOBODY has 14 footers. NOBODY! I am picking up my Polaris tomorrow, and getting their trailer they sell with it.
