| So I've given a position in the programming department of the company I currently work for. I've been in programming a few years with other companies and as a hobby but I've never bothered to pay any attention to foxpro. Mostly because It is no longer under development and there are better (in my opinion) languages and development tools out there. But now I have to learn foxpro for this new position. They are using visual foxpro 9 sp2. Im having trouble finding a "teach yourself" or reference book. Does anyone know of any forums, GOOD tutorials or books that I could use? |

i don't know of any, but there seems to be a decent blog community. possibly some resources there? if not, maybe email one of the guys directly. blog.todmeansfox.com/home/ |

This doesn't help you at all, but I can't resist. When i was in Iraq working on the Iraqi justice system's technology infrastructure, I was surprised to find their criminal records system running on a decrepit old computer with a custom database tool written in...you guessed it! FoxPro. FoxPro survived the Baathist regime, the Desert Storm bombing campaigns, the Shock and Awe, multiple insurgent bombings, and utter neglect by the Ministry of Interior. FoxPro will still be here after the nuclear holocaust ends all life on the planet. FoxPro is like a roach. Good luck with your programming task. Try not to develop too many bad habits that don't port to languages actually in modern use |
I currently use C# and PHP and have used C++ and VB in the past... I really dont like the idea of learning a mostly dead language but hey, I like my paycheck. |
