I have adjustable rifle gas on my dissy carbine. I can tune it from 1 to 3 to 5 o'clock. What's normal?

It is kind of counter-intuitive with a brass deflector. My guess would be the 5 is actually the lowest gas setting? I'd set it at 3 and forget it.

If it extracts, it works. If its not broke, don't fix it.

There's no setting, per se, just a set screw that will block off/open up gas tube. I'm wondering if less gas is better? Ie. less wear, more time for bullet to leave barrel before unlock of BCG. Or, same line of thinking, more time for case to expand to chamber before unlock? Built this hoping to be able to run any ammo, and heard that steel case is problematic mostly in overgassed rifles, ie. 16 inch carbines with carbine gas, that try to extract case before the case expands.

Giggity, just need to find a tighter fitting set screw. It walks out as the rifle heats up right now.

Sounds like beer o clock. It was warming up at the range. Signal was going for a water. I asked him to bring me a beer.

3 to 4 oclock is where I'd set it.
