Having problems installing/using iTunes on Vista on a Raid0 500GB HD. Updated the raid drivers had no effect.

iTunes started causing BSOD so I figured I just restore then image I made on Monday.

I started it Tuesday night. It's now Thursday and the screen looks like this.

Just shoot me now!

And there, my friend, is your first, and biggest problem.

Windows does not like to restore from backups.  You can ghost and re-image a machine pretty easily (usually), but restoring from a backup is a royal pain in the rear, if it works at all, under Windows...

If you can, go back to XP.  It's not nearly the resource hog, runs better/more stable, and stuff actually works with it (usually) without much/any tweaking.

Have you run the Windows XP for Vista fix?  I have heard that if you format and install XP, then vista runs much better.  As it remains a disk in a box where it can't hurt anything.

The machine came with Vista already installed from Dell. It was brand new in February.

I also noticed that prior to initiating the restore my DVD Rom drive wasn't showing up in Windows but the DVD-/+RW was.

I am goinig to see if this restore works and if not I may just have to call Dell and complain.

Dell has started shipping XP on machines again because of complaints with Vista...  They *might* give you an XP install if you complain about it.

Good luck
