[ARCHIVED THREAD] - ARFCOM Server Slow (Page 1 of 2)

| Anyone else? It's the only site that is consistently slow for me. |

ditto super slow, hangs up - other sites fine. Quoted:

Been that way for me as well going on 5 days now at different times of the day. Mostly at night. Never had a problem before. It's doing it right now. Progress bar goes almost all the way and then stops. Refresh the page and it does it again. I have Verizon Fios and no other sites have been acting like that. |

I bet money on it. Some backbone that a bunch of isp's use is probably having issues and dropping packets. Quoted:

Been happening the last 5 days or so. Thought is was my phone hanging up, but other sites have been loading up fine. It's been going on longer than five days . . . more like three weeks. Mostly late afternoon thru early evening (CDST) . . . very slow at times and often just stops with the IE "This page cannot be displayed" message. dp |

It is likely that computer oriented people get disoriented
from time to time. Often, they can wake up and think they have been waiting for a page to load. Normally, it is not the computer when other computers are working fine and the website administrater confirms pages are loading normally. Outside activity such as going to the gun range or chasing girls can serve as an awakening for the disgruntled PC user.

If you can run a trace route from your PC to arfcom, we can look at where the delay is coming from.
I am not saying it is not us 100%, there's a lot to look at as potential issues, but the servers themselves are running smoothly. I requested an update from our hosting provider to see if they are having an issue as well. I have not had any issues either on my pc or phone. There are no errors in the logs either to show anything blowing up and servers are handling the loan without incident. My guess is still that it's some routing issue along the way. Those trace route reports will help. |
|
Been having the same problem all week, pages load slow or don't load at all. Sometimes I cancel the page after 10-15 seconds and refresh and it comes right up...guess I have to google trace route.
ETA - did it with this post too - loading for 30 seconds and nothing, hit refresh and the world is right again. |

Traceroute is a common diagnostic tool for displaying the route (path) and measuring transit delays of packets across a network. The traceroute command is available on most modern operating systems.
Windows
Open the Start menu Click on Run Type cmd and then press the OK button to open a command prompt At the prompt, type tracert yourdomain.com and press the Enter key To copy the output, right-click anywhere in the window and select Mark. You can press Enter to copy all of the output, or select the text you want to copy and then right-click with your mouse. Paste the copied text by hitting CTRL + V. Note: To traceroute IPv6 you would simply execute : tracert -6 'your_domain_url' Linux
Open a terminal window Type traceroute yourdomain.com at the prompt and press the Enter key Note: To traceroute IPv6 you would simply execute traceroute6 yourdomain.com Mac OS
Go to Applications -> Utilities -> Network Utility -> Traceroute Type the domain or IP address in the appropriate input field and press Trace. You can also open a terminal window and use the same instructions as you would for performing a traceroute in Linux. Sample... Servers running smooth, not heavy load, no issues I can see. I'll take a look at a few things but zips along for me, so could be routing issues. really slow this morning. some pages are timing out, some half loading. even getting this reply window up was a struggle. i'm on FIOS 50M down / 50M up on the east coast, and currently also watching a streaming show without issue. root@wopr:/# date -u Sat Sep 12 14:26:19 UTC 2015 ar-jedi |

Yes - three of the squirrels called in sick and two others have been out on maternity leave. We're trying to train penguins to perform the roles previously performed by the squirrels but are not having much luck. Have you switched the reward from nuts to fish? Might help! |
