i'm thinking of starting a league on yahoo- you know, the free one? figured i'd float the idea here, rather than among the genius that is GD any comments, suggestions, flames welcome. thought it might be more interesting than playing against total strangers. The players Goatboy 1GR Burley druncuncas FredM Big_Bear ARDOC chainshaw |
I'll play, if there are no deadhead managers.
I played in a yahoo head-to-head league the last few years, and last year deadhead managers caused problems. The commish didn't do anything about it so I told that bunch I wouldn't be back this year. I'd consider paying to play in a plus league to keep the deadheads out. |
You mean a manager who doesn;t change his lineup?
I would be in for a league. We only really need 8 people. More is better but 8 is fine. ETA I am already in one paying league so a plus league is out of the question for me (i assume plus means paying) Thanks and hit me an IM is it goes through |
Sure I would be willing to join. Never done it before, so I will probably draft some real winners.
We would have to do an auto draft.
You rank your players in order of how bad you want them then Yahoo takes care of the rest. |
I'd rather do a live draft if possible. Those who can't do a live draft would do an auto-draft.
GB says let's find a solid 8 team roster and we will run with it.
So he and I are in who else??? |
Well there is 4... I think will resreve a spot for BigBear if he wants it.
Deadbeat managers get their accounts locked |
Since GB is in does the Champ get a Free years membership?
ETA: are wedoing Yahoo!? Are we going to have a team defense or total defense. Can I be commish?:) Kinda J/K with the questions. I know we are just struggling to get people right now. |
I am in. I have an umployed friend who does this all day long. He was doing fantasy Bass fishing and I knew he was going over the edge. I have to hire him as a consultant.
I'll do it. I may need some guidance.
ETA - ARDOC, I would love to whoop your Wolverine ass! |
I don't care who does it...since it was druncuncas who posted this it is kinda his baby. You two work it out and make it happen. |
i've got no interest in being commish.
in fact, i'm pretty open to any and all of the options listed. especially the idea of having the accounts locked of deadhead managers. that is pretty nifty! |
I created a league.
386493 is the league number Password will be IM'ed to the listed participants. |
That's Burley to you, clean_cut. |
Crap! |
i'll play...and i'm WAY more into my fantasy football than the baseball. i really dont care for baseball, but football is a whole other story!!
GO MUSTANGS!!! GO AGGIES!!! GO COLTS!!! |
so, we gambling?
how bout a pool? winner gets a used USGI mag from everyone? a box of surefire batteries? obviously, participation would be optional. just a thought |
Goatboy is playing. The champ gets a free years membership. If Goatboy or 1Nutgummer wins then they are out of luck. ETA: This is kinda a joke. Probably not gonna happen. |
OK, do you guys want to do a manual draft, or an autopick draft?
If you want to hold a draft, we need to pick a day and time. And do so within the next 3-4 days as draft times will start to fill up. I will start a separate topic and poll. Also, everyone listed in the initial post in this thread needs to sign up. We're still one short on the league. AROKIE is the first alternate. |
LMAO! Go to the league home page and click on TOOLS at the top. Check out who's hot on the right side of the page... Buffalo DEF, NYG DEF, Indianapolis DEF, SAN FRANCISCO DEFENSE!?!?!?
Indy DEF got 44.28 fantasy points. Marc Bulger passed for 362 yards and 2 TDs and he only got 15.64 fantasy points. Good thing I drafted Atlanta DEF. |
Lemme study on that for a day or two... |
I'm only a sack and 2 interceptions behind you. |
Almost to the halfway point. Hopefully I won't fold like I did in Fantasy Beisbol.
The point swings week to week are quite interesting. Just goes to show the players are human.
Not really. Player stats take a back seat to team defense based on the league settings. Defense is heavily emphasized in this league. High scores each week are teams with good defenses and low scores are teams with poor defenses. Log into the league and click on Tools. See any "players" on the "Who's Hot" list? Nope, no players, only team defenses based on this league's scoring rules. It's kinda funny actually. I've never played in a league with these rules. |
I just set it up off the top of my head. I assigned the point values as I thought they mattered.
Actually depends on which league you are talking about. The second league is what I was referring to. |
So it all comes down to this last week. Hopefully the Steelers D will pitch another shutout and Shawn Alexander will rush for 150 and 2 TD's.
Been an interesting season to say the least. I had no idea that the scoring would be emphasizing defense as much as it did. I think the next league I set up will award 20 points for every TD. And 1 point for every yard gained from scrimmage. |
BTW, why the hell haven't the Texans even been managed? I wish I would have caught the slight sooner as there were several good players on that team. |
