I am using my 2007 Tacoma for the oilfield. I dig it because it is like a small piece of home while I am in the field
for awhile and I can tell them to pound sand on inspection my vehicle for this or that.

I think I am going to keep using my Taco when they offer me a work truck. Yes I get mileage and a monthly allowance for the Taco.
I was looking at ARB bumpers, I dont have a use for the winch but may come in handy, who knows.
Do you like your ARB Bumper? Will it stand up to a 45 mph impact with a stupid fucking antelope and still get me to civilation or the rig?
This is my main concern. Deer and antelope protection since they are some of the dumbest animals around.

Lets see your rigs with them?
Any other suggestions? Maybe an American made badass bumper that can protect me from Rocky Mountain Wildlife?

Have one on my Land Cruiser, haven't hit anything yet. Saving up to put a 12k winch in it.

The Land Rover crowd hates ARB bumpers, but its mainly because a few people bent theirs in accidents and on trails, but outside the LR group most folks like them.

There are quite a few choices for Toyota off-road bumpers, but it all depends on what you are planning to do with it. The ARB isn't overbuilt, isn't light (although I installed mine by myself), isn't a tubular pre-runner style. I got it because it's solid enough to deal with everyday stuff and I don't plan on climbing any waterfalls or 90 degree slopes. It gives me better clearance, more protection, and a place to mount a big winch, without costing over a grand.

Pretty beefy. I've hit a few things and it hasn't damaged it too much. No winch yet on mine.

Got a Tacoma ARB on my 4r. I would have to say it would take a deer or antelope no problem. It is a well made piece of steel. Definitely plan on putting ARBs on any of my trucks in the future.

Remember, no matter what you bolt to the front, hit something hard enough and you'll kiss your frame goodbye.

+1.

i've had my ARB on for 7 years, it has held up, no problems, and have bounced 2 deer off it with ZERO effects.

I have one on my 2005 Duramax and I hit a pretty good sized deer at about 40MPH a year ago.  Bumper didn't give a fuck.

Don't have one on my Tacoma yet.  When you hit deer your main concern is the sumbitch flying up into your windshield IME

I've got an ARB on my 06 Dmax, it's held up fine when I hit a small 140 lb white tail at 40 mph. No damage to the truck or bumper. I'm very happy with it so far. Truck is used as a farm truck/daily driver/hunting rig.

Some idiot decided to pull a left hand turn in front of my friend several months ago and he T-boned the bastard at 45 mph. The ARB bumper oh his Jeep Unlimited hit the bastard straight on the passender side B-Pillar. Only damage to the bumper was some deep scratches...

They are wonderful! You're going to need to address your front suspension, I'm pretty sure the ARB will cause the front to sag. Crash cans vs. no cans as well.

I put an ARB "bull bar" on my FJ  in 2007 as an anti-doe device for the commutes to base-Holcomb Blvd is full of deer in the AM.  Built like a piece of armor.  Highly recommended.  Built in Thailand, however.

I would have got the Shrockworks if didn't come with an insane wait time. ARB drop shipped my bumper to me in a week.

The guard I have on the rear of my truck has taken more abuse and protected the truck far more than the front one.

So consider the rear guard as much as the front.  People will rear end you on the highway, and back into you in parking lots more frequently than you hitting something at 45, and at 45 - your truck is likely not driving home anyway.

I have an ARB on my Jeep. I had to replace most of my front end due to a jerk suddenly turning left in front of me at 35-40 mph. After seeing some pics of high speed roll overs with the ARB bull bars installed I had to get an ARB. These Jeeps were totalled but the bumpers were only scratched and could probably be used again. These bumpers are definitely deer proof.

I had to add some heavy duty springs and an extra 1/2" to my front lift to compensate for the extra 85+ lbs hanging off the front.

My '06 Rubicon, I love this bumper.  Haven't hit anything yet so I can't speak to that, but I can tell you it only dropped the front of the Jeep a little bit, like half an inch if that.

Have a TJM on my F250.  Very solid, and has with stood a couple high speed impacts.  One was a large dog at 75 mph, the other was hitting a 5 gal pail full of concrete mix that fell off the back of a contractor's truck at 65 mph.  Bumper was fine, cut a slice out of the front tire on that one though.

Pics of the bumper when new:

I work in the oilfield in the Rocky Mountain Region. I am there 90% of the time and mainly moving forward and concerned with the odd times of the day I drive to and from the rig. Mainly leave rig at 2 in the morning so I go through the Rockies during sunrise and usually get to the rig after dusk.
So my main concern is protecting the vitals of the truck to get to or from the rig.

When I was in the oilfield in the past, I never hit anything, but I had a work truck and didnt care if it was destroyed. Since its my own vehicle, I really am concerned and actually drive a lot nicer on the rig roads.

I have one on my 2006 Tacoma and I am selling it off next summer after I buy a Badland bumper.

I took a road trip out to Seattle to have Badland make me a custom rear bumper and rack for my rig, after getting a short demonstration of what I bought and it's capabilities I have decided to get a Badland front bumper and sell my ARB.

The ARB has specific jacking points if you are going use a Hi-Lift jack.  You can't use it on the corner flanges as it will bend them into the body.

Also the front tubing ends shortly after it descends into the bumper, it is not reenforced inside the bumper.

A Badland bumper, is solid tubing all the way around and you can use a Hi-Lift pretty much at any point.

Badland also makes, as I stated awesome rear bumpers and rock-sliders that you can use to jack with as well.

If you are still in the market for a used ARB next summer send me and IM.

Had an ARB on my Rover....tweaked it using the 12000# winch...tweaked it again using my hi Lift jack on it...Went custom after that and have survived impacts that would destroy the entire vehicle with a lesser bumper...

I had one on my last Tacoma- this is what it looks like after a 45mpg head-on.

I walked away, other guy was DOA- he crossed the double yellow and hit me.

When I replaced that Taco I put one on the new truck also.  Yes, there are heavier bumpers out there but the ARB has been tested to work with the airbag system.  I wish it had tow points built in and was a bit stronger on the outer ends, but I can't complain.

I had both the ARB and the TJM on my 84 Toy Ext Cab.

TJM was slighty better built but the ARB fit better.

All in all, both rocked.

Had an ARB on my 06 Duramax. Hit a Mule deer doe in Wyoming going at least 70 mph. Deer exploded, bumper did not even scratch. Have a Ranch hand Legend on my 08 Duramax and while it is a nice bumper, it is not near the quality of the ARB. It rusts easily and the upper tubes are no where near as strong as the ARB.
