Is it illegal to put a preban upper on a postban lower? I'm sure it is but just making sure. thanks

Are you sure it is legal to put a Preban upper on a postban lower?  I thought that is only the case if the upper does not have a flash hider then you can. Is my understanding wrong?  Thanks for the clarification.

It is illegal to put a pre-ban upper on a post-ban lower if it contains the following: a bayonet lug and a threaded barrel.

If you grind off the lug, and have a muzzle brake PERMANATLY attached you are OK. Or you can grind off the lug and threads. That should also be OK.

If you install a brake, make sure it is permanent. I believe most people have the brakes pinned and soldered on.
