| Anyone here enjoy owning an American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, or American Bull Dog? They seem to be in as much danger as our beloved firearms! |
| omg looks allot like my Deuce. Very pretty. Keep up the good fight. I hate BSL. I'm an LEO who owns an APBT. Got him during an arrest, but he's mine now and registered through the ADBA. I support Dangerous Dog Laws but will never support BSL. If you want I'll try to upload a pic. Deuce is solid red "red nose" and a big puss! |
| apbt and am staffs are the same breed just different papered bloodlines. (the akc would only recognize the pitbull after owners changed the name and kept the bloodline seperate, nothing was added to the dog to change it from an apbt) in my opinion the greatest breed available. and yes they are very much under fire. all the BSL laws spreading across the country. APBT's are illegal in many u.s. cities including denver. such a shame |

We're on our 2nd APBT, which also happens to be our 2nd Rescue. Pitbulls (bully breeds in general for the most part) tend to be very intelligent, contrary to popular belief, and very hard headed, and will test you if given the opportunity, hence the reason training and refreshers are very important.
As far as BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) goes, unfortunately there are several municipalities throughout the country that ban pitbulls, but its honestly getting better, and with the recent Vick case brining the fact fighting dogs and fighting stock dogs can be be rehabilitated and live perfectly fine lives in homes with other animals and children, is helping the cause a great deal. Couple that with folks like Caesar Milan (The Dog Whisperer) showing that the breed isn't all it's cracked up to be, and more people are opening their eyes in a positive light towards the breed. Theres still work to be done to educate people and thats what my fiancee and I do, we take Kahless (pic below) everywhere, and let him interact with people, children, dogs, cats etc, and this on a broad scale will continue to help further the cause. Kahless - Just turned 4 last week. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-3/1154790/Kahless1.jpg |

No better dogs than these bully breeds. Raise 'em right and they'll reward you by being the most faithful, loving companions. We have both a APBT and an SBT... AWESOME dogs! Lilo just turned 6 two days ago and little Willy is just over one.

Yeah Bullys are some of the best dogs around.
But just like anything else cool you let someone stupid get there hands on it and they will mess it up for everyone else. Since this is a hot subject for me all leave it at that befor I say somthing that will get me suspended or banned.
Some nice pic's. |

I have been involved with the breed for the last 15 years in one form or another. Mainly UKC/AKC but there were a few ADBA dogs in the mix. I did everything from breeding and showing to using my dogs as breed ambassadors. I always had a bully with me. It was always kind of funny when customers would come to my work and start to play with one of the dogs and ask what kind of dog is she/he. When the heard my response they would always be surprised! So much for being baby killers…lol.
Now the wife and I only own 2 and both are rescue dogs. One was found left for dead and has some very expensive health problems and was very game when we got her. It took a lot of work but now she is 100% safe around the other household pets. The male was rescued when he was 6 months old and has turned out to be a great dog. Well, once he understood that carpet does not = grass…lol Once things calm down at home I will probably start a small kennel of my own. For those looking to help out RingDogRescue is a great group of people in Richmond VA doing all they can to help the breed. Take a look at their site if you have the chance. |
