I know that this isn't an AK-47 forum, but I don't know where else to turn. I want to purchase a pre-ban underfolder in the next week or so. I have seen all different types of listings: AK-47, AKS, AKM, LEGEND, 84S, TYPE 56, etc. I had a Norinco AK-47 underfolder about 10 years ago, but haven't the slightest idea what model I had. What are the features of all these rifles I have listed above? Which are considered AK-47's? Which is the better choice: Norinco or Polytech? Is there a significant difference between the stamped and milled receivers? Thanks for any responses, as I know there will be quite a bit of typing involved to distinguish all of the models and features. It is greatly appreciated.

All of them feature a bayonet lug and flash hider capability (since they are preban). They all shoot the 7.62X39mm round except for the 5.56X45mm 84S. They are all considered AK-47 variants, but in order to have an AK-47, it must have full auto capabilities. Norinco and Polytech don't differ too much. Milled VS stamped do differ. A milled receiver is milled out of a solid piece of metal while the stamped is just made out of sheets of metal. Many argue that the milled is better and others argue that they are basically the same except that the milled is more stronger and durable. If you want an underfolder, try a Hungarian one. I know you'll love it!
