Just happened bout half hour ago!   I was supposed to have got a "remanufactured" transmission and tcase, just over a year ago maybe a year and 3 months ago, today im driving and when it shifts into 2nd it starts to kinds slip, it also feels like if my truck started missing. So I slowed down and it didnt do it going into 2nd. Going about 30mph and start to slow its down shifting absurdly hard. I turn around and start to limp it back home and going idling down a hill its just slamming into gear going down the hill, and i notice the 4wd switch flicker, and then the service 4wd light comes on dash and i hear a click then the light goes out. And then the truck is shifted fine and no slipping or acting up on way home. Any ideas???????  I also noticed after the switch flickered that the lights werent on on the switch and after the service light came on and off and truck was acting fine the lights on the switch were on, it was in 2wd, 99 tahoe, 4l60e, 246 tcase, and it does have the auto 4wd option on the switch any help or ideas would be much appreciated. I put 3500 into it last summer and im not going to put another tranny in it after only a year idk what im going to do. TIA!

Sounds electrical to me.  Take it back to where the work was done and have them check it out.

The best way to begin diagnosing this problem is to scan the transmission and T- case for DTC's and get a live datastream during a test drive. That would give you enough info to come to a decisive diagnosis or at least give you a solid direction to follow to pinpoint the cause.

Will a genesis scanner pick up transmission codes?

Yes, with few exceptions the Genisys will get into every available module on this vehicle. Typically on GM trucks you have access to  both the trans and T case. The only limitation is the vehicle's software ...if they didn't write the code to allow comm with a module then no scanner can get in.

well my scanner didnt pull any codes except for a misfire. I had an extra switch laying around and it didnt change. I noticed that if i mess with the switch while its running that it will run fine, and i narrowed it down to if i leave one of the plugs out of the switch it will not slip and act up, does anyone know what this plug runs to or have any idea what could be causing this. Sometime this week i hope to get it to the shop so i can just have them scan it with their good scanner while its driving or something. i need my truck back for deer hunting lol

So you replaced the 4x4 switch with no fix?
.

Could be the TCCM or an encoder motor problem.

Does it go from 2wd to 4x4, auto 4x4 and 4x4 low?

yeah i replaced the switch with no fix, but if i left it unplugged it wouldn't or hasn't act up on me anymore. When it would act up, it would slip but i believe it would stay in 2wd but the lights would go out and no 2d would be lit up anymore, but when and if it does pop back on again it would still be in 2wd. So i have always seen it in 2wd since this has started. Thanks for the help
