We have a "Cadillac" plan. Will we be taxed on it as income? Second, did the Unions get a pass on paying income taxes if the rest of us are getting the bone? |
|
Quoted: hmm can;t remember when it kicks in. I know the unions don't get it for many years after.Quoted: Quoted: Not in a union. then consider yourself taxed. Not until 2013 right? might want to read the senate bill and find out. Don't want any surprises next april. |

Not sure... Hmm, so here's how the new "progressive" taxes will work:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34609984/ns/health-health_care "Q: What if I make too much for Medicaid but still can't afford coverage? A: You might be eligible for government subsidies to help you pay for private insurance that would be sold in the new state-based insurance marketplaces, called exchanges, slated to begin operation in 2014. Premium subsidies would be available for individuals and families with incomes between 133 percent and 400 percent of the poverty level, or $14,404 to $43,320 for individuals and $29,326 to $88,200 for a family of four. The subsidies would be on a sliding scale. For example, a family of four earning 150 percent of the poverty level, or $33,075 a year, would have to pay 4 percent of its income, or $1,323, on premiums. A family with income of 400 percent of the poverty level would have to pay 9.5 percent, or $8,379. In addition, if your income is below 400 percent of the poverty level, your out-of-pocket health expenses would be limited." |

Quoted: Could only find reference to 2013 and 40% excise tax on health plans considered Cadillac plans. Haven't read new bill, but it all could change going back to Senate for reconcilliation. Love to see the union exemption eliminated. Make them vote on that again. 40%? Awesome, unions, its members and everything they make can choke on a dick as far as Im concerned. Toyotas in the driveway from now on I guess. |

Quoted: ditto. Im checking labels nowdays to make sure it isn't labeled as a union product as well. they usually post that shit. They will probably stop doing it though as unions are becoming a dirty word.Quoted: Could only find reference to 2013 and 40% excise tax on health plans considered Cadillac plans. Special tax breaks from federal income taxe, just because someone is in a labor union? How the hell is that Constitutional? |

this is going to be so much fun! over the next few years....
every April, seeing a new tax or a new cut into the margins... next year should be a blast. I don't see how it is not. Special tax breaks from federal income taxe, just because someone is in a labor union? How the hell is that Constitutional?
The same reason you can have minority-only scholarships, tax breaks, and an entirely progressive tax system. Union or not makes no difference - it's just yet another qualifier of the "Entitlement Class." |

You can't give special privilege/consideration to a group just because they belong to an organization. |
| i work for a union company. we have a cadillac plan. my wife and i called numerous times to get our rep, ann kirkpatrick to vote no on the bill. i am with you. it is not fair i don't pay the tax yet my neighbor, right next door will have to. i am of the belief we live and die together as a nation. as i live in a right to work state i, thankfully don't have to be a member of said union as to which i am currently not. hopefully the states can knock this bill down. |

Let's say you buy a car today, you start paying but you don't actally get to drive it for 4 years.
This is how they say this boondoggle is deficit neutral. You will pay for 4 friggin years before anyone gets anything. They cut Medicare by $500,000,000,000 to pay for this, it's a friggin shell game. My parents have already been dropped, can you imagine looking for a new doctor when you are 72? Never said ths before, FUCK OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
