I'm off to buy a case of Octoberfest in 20 minutes.I will be choosing between Leinenkugels and Great Lakes. If you have an opinion, please vote above and tell me about your choice.

Thanks!

I went with other.

If you are going Domestic I say:

Sam Adams or Great Lakes

If you are going German I say:

Ayinger or Paulaner Oktoberfest-Märzen

Sam Adams Oktoberfest tastes pretty good IMO.  However if you are a purist it's not really true to style for Oktoberfest.  For a real Oktoberfest you have to go with something like Ayinger, Spaten or Paulaner.

Guys - I'e had Sam and it's OK. I'm really only considering the two options above. Probably should have left the Other option off. My bad.

I've had Penn Ocktoberfest and it is ok, but nothing to right home about.  It is an average Märzen beer.

Whatever happened to Pete's?  I used to drink their Oktoberfest all the time.  I haven't seen it in years.

Due to overwhelming dogpile, I went with the Spaten. I'll be cracking one open shortly before Steelers kickoff.

I don't know when their Octoberfest is coming out, but their Bohemian Black Lager tastes very similar albeit slightly better than Sam Adams Octoberfest.

The typical "Oktoberfest" beer is a Märzen. Sam Adams Octoberfest is, IMO, by far the best American Märzen-style beer I have ever had.

However, they all pale in comparison to the various Märzens I had while living in Austria.

ETA - I do like Great Lakes Octoberfest, but it doesn't fit the Märzen style as well as Sam Adams.
