Well, here we are again. I am at a hotel in Deland. Meeting at 0900. Gotta pick up the radio for the corner while at the meeting. We discuss any changes in what to observe, any flagging changes etc.
Cars on course at 1000. Will start with pictures tomorrow evening. That is all. |

Is it that time of year again? Sweet. Yes it is. Practice sessions and initial qualifying sessions tomorrow followed by night practice from 1830 to 2030. Race starts at 1530 Saturday, ending at 1530 Sunday. My shifts for the race are 1530-1730, 2130-0130, and 0930-1130, but I always stick around for the end. Besides, we have, in the past, had an incident or two that made those of us who were officially "off" to lend a hand. Otherwise, I will be working all day Thursday and Friday and for the vintage car parade lap at 1100 on Saturday. I will be watching for phantom GT cars when JJ is in the 99 car. |

Will there be continuous coverage of said race. SPEED does not show a continuous coverage per their guide. Any other channels?

I have one of my DVRs at home set to record the two shows they are doing. It's always interesting to get home and see an incident from a different perspective. This might be what you are looking for: http://www.grand-am.com/news/index.cfm?series=r&cid=41046 |

Just now doing final laundry load before packing. Head out EARLY Friday.
Looking like it's going to be another chilly event overnight. Remember: France = Bad. #6 = Good! |

Not that I would use that kind of info at the sports book, or anything!

And they will be joining with another team to run the 23 car. Also, I can't remember the number of their usual second car. I think it's 60, but can't remember for sure. |

Probably the Ganassi team or maybe the Action Express team with two Porsche powered prototypes, one an inline 6 and the other a V8. The 911 engined cars (the flat 6) seem to do well due to their reliability. The GM powered teams always seem to have some problem in this race and the Ford runners always seem to shoot themselves in the foot. I would like to see a Ford powered car win though. I think that GT will come down to one of the Mazdas or one of the Porsches, again due to reliability. |

Yep, we have (or I should say Shank has) three cars at this event. #6 Ford-Dallara, #23 Ford-Riley and #60 Ford-Riley. |

Thanks for running these threads Larry. One of my favorites!
Did they pave the infield as well?

Fly in pit-monkey. Most likely just for this race since I'm on the #6 car which I don't see being ran for the full season. Three cars will burn a lot of cash. Would be nice to be wrong about that though. |

The current #6 was a late edition to the team last year after the old one had a slight fire problem. So, last year: #6 and #60 Ford-Riley start the season. #6 burns. New (current) #6 Ford-Dallara enters the scene. This year: #23 is the re-built fire car. #6 and #60 same as the end of last year. While I can't speak for Mike it would make more sense to run two of the same if for no other reason than the parts are the same. We'll just have to wait and see what transpires. |

As for the car fire: I want to say it was at the Glen but not 100% on that. |

Of course, other tracks have it on driver's right and some have it on driver's left, but now that you mentioned it, I think you are correct. |

Man, that Krohn crew member really dove into that thing at about 1:22. |

Thanks in advance for all the great photos and descriptions of the good times, Larry!
Did you see that Ridley and Tony Scott are developing a TV drama based on 50s and 60s sports car racing? It could be "Band of Brothers" with Stirling Moss, Briggs Cunningham and Juan Fangio!!! |
