Hotlinking XKCD is OK, but you should also link to the individual comic pages, as the title text is usually part of, or even most of, the joke.
For example, the title text to this:

I downloaded and saved the pics, hosted and posted them. I thought the title would come across, but apparently it hasn't. Yeah, I agree. Too often the title is most of the joke. |
