Little back story.. I used to have a black, 2000 Camaro Z28. On a trip to Atlantic City, while traveling in a pack of cars on the freeway in NJ, I hit a front wheel hub assembly off of a truck. There was nothing I could do to avoid it. The damage to the drive train and under carriage was beyond repairable, and it was totaled. I decided than, I would search until I found my unicorn,.. a White, 2001 Z28 with the RS Kit. Why a 2001,... because that year they only produced around 25,000 total Camaros or about half as many as any year prior and after. This makes this year alone collectible just because there are half as many out there. I have always loved the white with the rs kit. After searching the entire US for 5 months, I finally found one... perhaps the only one configured this way.. Most white V8s were either made into SS models, or if they were a standard Z28, did not have the ground effects... so I know mine has to be one of a very few from this year.

The previous owner had already installed a full exhaust, air lid, and done some work on the trans. He also had it tuned.

Modifications:
- SLP Headers
- SLP Catted Y-Pipe
- SLP Loudmouth I Exhaust
- SLP air Lid and Smooth Bellow
- Billet Shift Forks
- Bronze Shift Bushings and Pads
- Pro 5.0 Shifter
- Modified WS6Store Short Stick
- LS7 Clutch
- SSBC Rotors
- Clear Corner and Marker Lenses
- Custom Painted Calipers
- 13 Ball Shifter
- Custom Shift and E-Brake Boot
- American Racing TTM Wheels in Anthracite Finish
- Custom Inserts and Badges
- Shorty Antenna

The theme I am going with is a Heritage Edition theme. I want this car to pay homage to the styles and ideas of Camaros and Muscle/Pony cars of yester year. I am shooting for a sleek and subtle look that has a few items that show the theme immediately, while others take a closer, more noticeable eye to catch. While I am going for this theme, I want to stay true to what the car is,.. a 4th Generation Camaro, and not try to make it a throwback model. Items such as the rims and shift knob are just two examples of what I mean. It will take me a few years to complete the entire car the way I want, including the engine, but it will tie together quite nicely when it is all said and done.

Here she is:

I have an appointment lined up for window tinting and am also working on a custom painted SLP Grill insert. Here is a prototype of how the grill will look:

I will update this post as I do things to the car.

comments and feedback is welcome.... yes,.. even the Mullet jabs will be tolerated..haha

nice maro! i have an 86 iroc that i cant even get the total produced from GM. they didnt even keep track of it or thats what i was told on 3 different phone calls over about 8 years i havent seen many configured like mine before....black with gold package, non t-top, rear disk brakes, t-5 trans, carbed engine and few other odds and ends that make it harder to find one but those are the major ones.

Really nice car.  I love the rims, but understand where you are going with it.

Nice car. I would suggest lowering it, because that wheel well gap is huge, but that probably wouldn't go along with this:

Nice car.

I have a white 97 Z28 B4C package. I told my girlfriend I am being buried in it*L*
I should have a strut tower brace for it in a few months and I want to put a set of 3 point sub frame connectors on it. Outside of that, as money is available, I'll work on getting more horse power.
I replaced the transmission a few years ago, I blew out 1st,3rd and reverse. It now sports a CPT rebuild able to take up to 450hp.

As far as I can tell, my configuration was a short run that year, only 12 cars.

Yep braces, strut tower. Then ceramic coated headers, tune. You need HP. Nice Car BTW, I miss my Ram Air WS6

Thanks for the replies all. I had planned on lowering her a bit, but the headers right now already hit speed bumps...even when taken on diagonally, so that will have to wait until I get a different set of long tubes with better ground clearance.

SLP headers hang way low. The Pacesetters and kooks are tucked nice but the y pipe can bang the floorboard or the drivers side K member. I had Pacesetters on my TA and had to use a piece of heater hose with a clamp through it to keep it from banging. My TA was lowered a little, I cut one coil off the front and took out the rear coil spacer. With my slicks and skinnies, it had a perfect raked stance and had plenty of clearance for speed bumps.

mine is a t-top, carbed 350, t-5, rear disc brakes, no a/c, power windows but no power locks.

b1er... agreed, that is the biggest downfall to SLP Headers. Next set,.. eventually,.. will be a set of texas-speed 1 7/8 ones.

Striker... Thats cool. 13 has always been my lucky number and has oddly enough repeated itself a lot in my life.

nice iroc....looks just like mine did many years ago minus the t-tops. mine had AC and also had no power locks. but now mine is sooooo far from stock there is not much iroc left. removed all ac and heat components, everything suspension wise is all tubular and adjustable, a forged 383 in it now with hopefully tremec tko600 trans and moser 12 bolt rear this year so i can finish up the build. also have c5 zo6 brakes and the list is huge. thirdgen.org is a great site i have been a member for years!

except for the engine, exhaust and some polyurethane mounts..mine is stock. I don't plan on doing anymore mods as it will be getting sold in the next couple of years. I have some minor interior tweaks to do and some tuning issues..that's about it.

I feel like I am lacking here. Mine is stock except for the transmission I blew up ,the knock module I upgraded and the MSD rebuilt kit for the optispark.

I hope to be in a situation($$$) soon where I can start adding performance mods to the car.
It has a great LT1 to start with. I should be getting a Hotchkis strut tower brace in a few months for my birthday.

IMHO..you will be much further a head of the game going with sub frame connectors then a strut tower brace. I was going to get one for mine and after doing a lot of research I came to the conclusion that if I wasn't going to race the car to it's limits on road courses then a brace was pretty pointless and more eye candy then practical.

I'll have to look into that. Everything I saw said it would stiffen up the front end and help with body flex.
Thanks for the heads up.

that was the reason I was going to do it as well. I put sub frame connectors on mine and it helped..a lot. Mine will corner just fine for a street car. if I was going to go road racing then I would add the brace..along with a cage.

Thanks Striker. Hopefully this helps out the OP as well in case he was thinking of doing the same thing to his Camaro.

Looks like I will need to pony up and help pay for my new b-day present, 3 point sub frame connectors.
The hard part is figuring out which ones are good and what is garbage.

http://www.jegs.com/p/Alston-Race-Cars/Alston-GM-Bolt-On-Subframe-Connectors/2388413/10002/-1

I did a lot of reading and research before I bought mine. Some you had to cut the floor which I wasn't interested in. others you spot welded to the pinch weld on the rocker panel or to the floor pan..wasn't interested in that either.

I ended up getting the Alston bolt in ones and had them welded in. They fit like a glove, didn't interfered with the exhaust and the ground clearance is good. Spohn connectors are suppose to be very good too.

Thanks, I'll check those out.

have you ever heard of these guys?
UMI

also, do you think the extra cost for the 3 point is worth it? I am just starting my research since I have not had the money to do much.

No I haven't but I've had my sfc's for around 5 years so I stopped reading up on them. As for the 3 point being worth it..I think that would depend on how you drive. If you plan on racing it or building an engine with monster torque, I would think anything you can add to the body, frame, suspension to help take the abuse would be money well spent.

My car is a street car and I don't drive it hard so I didn't feel I needed something that "high speed".
