Protesters & police clash in Sudan

"It's about time we fight for our God-given rights," a Facebook page
announcing the protests exhorted, calling for an end to autocratic
government practices that have led to corruption, rising prices and
unemployment. More than 16,000 people had indicated they would attend.
"Our brothers in Tunisia did it, and so did our brothers in Egypt."

This could spread to a point where the future is very ugly.

Didn't something kinda like this happen when the USA won it's independence? and a bunch of European countries ended up trying to overthrow their tyrants?

Yemen, Jordan...end = ?

People say it all the time and it usually doesn't apply:  game changing event...this time it does...the world as we know it is ending, believe it or not, and unfortunately this probably won't be the last epic fail of this administration.

Hey!  Osama bin Laden can go back there...then we'll get either/both of the Clintons to try and catch him for real this time.

No.  The U.S. engaged in something other than a revolution and a bunch of leftists in France along with genuine liberals who misunderstood what happened in America started somethng really ugly that has done an incredible amount of harm to Western civilization and has led in the end to the snuffing out of millions upon millions of innocent lives, not to mention making many people less free than they otherwise would have been.  But at the time it really didn't start a domino effect.  It did have some fallout aside from the Napoleonic Wars but it did not lead to a regional change in governments or anything close to it.  The big changes came much later (the biggest ones during WWI and its aftermath) and we are still suffering from them.  Revolution is a horrible thing.

In this case revolutionary success in one country has inspired a series of revolutionary movements and efforts throughout the Muslim world that could very quickly turn into something ugly if not checked.  It's not really the same thing.

That would be an interesting power projection that they have not done before. It would be opening a whole new book.
BTW, this was already going down in Sudan, with or without Tunisa and Egypt.

Not that we would but could we do this to corrupt other countries . Seems the digital age makes it really easy.

I think someone's already thought of that.

Present day Egypt reminds me of Iran pre-Islamic revolution. All those wanting democracy better watch out for the ones who want a religious theocracy.  While I applaud their attempts to rid themselves of a dictator, I would still be wary of what will replace the current regime.  They say it is all about jobs?  Well aside from tourism and oil, what else do these third world Middle East shit holes have to offer?  The only folks who can provide instant jobs for the masses are the jihadist aka Muslim Brotherhood.  They'll put them to use for sure.

Yeah -  most of those 'tries' turned into senseless bloodbaths, though...

And Sudan already HAS an Islamist regime in power, so THEIR situation is very likely NOT Muslim radicals trying to take over.

I agree that China will deploy forces.  They will not let that oil pipe line die.

In for the 3rd revolution this month.

Didn't Sudan already have a revolution and genocide in the  last year or two.? They want another one already?

I wager a Shiner that Saudi Arabia will be one of the next ones in the domino effect.

The most likely result would actually be a split between the Islamist Arabic northern part of the country and the black-African south (which I believe is either mostly either Christian or still follows traditional African tribal beliefs).

I wager a Shiner that Saudi Arabia will be one of the next ones in the domino effect.

Nuh-uh.  The House of Saud has spent a LOT of coin on internal security and given that Mecca and Medina are under their watch, they will NOT allow anything to built up steam in their nation.  They will likely shoot everybody and hush it up post haste, and they have the resources to do it.

I'm not saying anything to the contractary, just that revolutions can be contagious and spread to other countries.
