A great book, 176 pages, by George “Jack” Frost. Worked at western cartridge, olin, cascade, armscor. Incredibly detailed and many interesting stories and anecdotes. Well organized. A real gem, and maybe a good thing to have in 50 or 100 years. |

I have that book in print. I have never seen another copy- thanks for the .pdf.

Thanks! Always been interested in learning more and never took the time to actually delve into it.

I especially appreciate the detail on rimfire and match rimfire.

Thanks for posting OP. Saving this to my "Contingency" folder.

Added to the library.
I once found a "preview" version of that - but never got my hands on the full thing. Also - thanks to this PDF - my library just popped over the 10GB mark. Today is already a good day. |

Based in those last links of gunbroker and cheaperdirt 22LR prices it is now more cost effective to mine your own ore and make from scratch at home.

Nineteen-ninety was when NRA could still identify a jack-booted-thug.

Quoted: Nineteen-ninety was when NRA could still identify a jack-booted-thug. View Quote This book is interesting and well written and thorough. I doubt very much it had any political or end-times purpose. Inside of 10 years no one will need primers. 100W+ pulsed erbium lasers see to that. You could make an optically-ignited black powder round today. |

I considered that, but I've got enough on hand to keep the neighborhood supplied for that long unless we're engaged in significant firefights every day

Bump for anyone who missed it. Truly an interesting bit of reading!

This sounds really cool Plenty of papers on using lasers for small arms propellant ignition on DTIC. Evidently black powder is such a great optical absorber it is pretty easy. I have CW blue lasers that will ignite nitrocellulose but i dont know if it would go fast enough for a firearm. |
