Are 1911 like AR's in the way you can change uppers? If you have a short commander type pistol can you put a 5 inch upper on it? And can you change .45 to .38 and vice versa?

to convert from 45 to 38 super you need a 9mm/38 complete top end (slide, barrel, firing pin etc) and a 38super ejector on the frame and mags to put a commander length slide on govt model frame, you need to trim back the dust cover on the slide 40cal 1911 upper needs a 10mm slide
