Got a check engine light so I ran diagnostics. Came back as P0521 "Engine oil pressure sensor/switch circuit range/perf"

When driving oil pressure is between 20-30.

Any ideas what it could be? If I need to change the oil pressure gauge how difficult a job are we talking?

What year/engine? If it's a 5.3L it's probably a clogged valve lifter oil filter, located under the oil pressure sensor. You might want to replace the sensor while you have it off or at least have a new one on hand for when you break the original.

Yeah it's the 5.3. I'll have to do some research and figure what those parts are.

ETA: 5 dollar part?

Yeah, that's it. You could probably even just clean the one you have.

Great, thanks for the info and saving me a crap ton of money. Of course now the CEL is off, but I'm going to change and or clean that sensor. I have the Autozone manual for the truck so I'm assuming I can find the instructions on how to fix this in there.

The sensor unscrews and the filter(screen) is under the sensor, it's just in a hard to reach location. That filter is what needs to be replaced or cleaned. There should be multiple youtube videos, it's a fairly common problem. Good luck and I hope that takes care of it.

Went to NAPA yesterday and they don't have the part so I guess I need to order it online.
