Its been raining for awhile here and every time we seem to get a decent amount of rain my abs light comes on. thats not bad because it turns off when it dries up, but now i have a new problem, tonight while driving in the rain the abs light came on and just above that the 4x4 high light came on and started blinking and now is blinking about every 2 minutes or so and then turning off again. any suggestions?

Not sure about your problem....But I have the very same truck, same year, 6cyl. Damm thing gets 11 miles/gallon. It's gotta GO! I already have a F350 superduty. One gas hog in the house is enough.

the abs light used to come on in my 1993 explorer all the time, especially in wet conditions and sometimes it would whine when i stopped on wet surfaces. what i did was readjust the length of the rod in the booster. the problem was fixed.

my current explorer is an 03 4x4 with the 6cyl. and the high will blink on and off if you engage it. if it blinks all the damn time id say take it to the dealer.

btw, 11 mpg is not normal. in town you should get like 17. maybe your "flex-fuel" thingamajig is fucked.

You need to get the ABS codes retrieved before anything else.  I'm not sure if Autozone can do that though.  Rear axle ABS sensors (in trucks that don't have AdvanceTrac) are common failure items.

update, went to my brother in va who is a ford mechanic, put in a new abs sensor in the rear pumpkin, reset the codes and no problem so far, but we (my brother and i) still cant figure out why the 4x4 high was blinking
