Given some of these fast turn arounds, I went and pulled the trigger on a 45 can. Wasn't in the market, but I figured why not.
I've already got a form 4 can and a form 1 sbr. I've posted pictures of guns online and I'm a member here. The AI already knows about me. Anyone enticed into their first can because of the fast turn around? Is the ATF growing their list, or is it the same people growing their collections? |
I ordered my first can mid January, fully expecting a long wait.
So far, still waiting F4, Capital Armory. My electronic print scans took a while to get mostly legible prints. I wonder if that is the hold up? Inked prints would have been easier. |

From another thread. This member is joking, but it captures several poll answers in one. I've read several posts about it being something nefarious. |

short wait times pushed me over the edge about 3 weeks ago, 4 cans in process. Hopefully I get quick F4 approvals, my last can was just over 9 months. Trouble is, I haven't even certified yet, still waiting on the F3 approval's
As for lists, I've probably been on one or more for 30-40 years, well over a decade on the NFA registry. IDGAF. |
Wouldn’t be my first but I’m damnrd tempted to grab another 2-3 cans given the turnaround. At least a dedicated 5.56 can
Did my my fourth stamp the other day
First stamp 18 months form 1 trust (10 years ago) Second stamp 12 month 1 day form 4 individual (2 years ago) Third stamp 19 days form 1 individual (2 years ago) Fourth stamp 2 days form 4 individual (last week) |

I’m sure in a way that’s silly, they for sure know who I am, what guns I have etc etc. |

Mine in the pipeline are on a trust and there don't seem to be any quick turnarounds in that field.
Guess I'll just wait. |
If I can finagle the cash together, I'd love to get a .308 can while the getting is good. I can thread my bolt gun later.
Ask me Next week.
I'll have the rest of necessary funding for of my Next Suppressor then I just hope I did the E-File signup correctly |
I've been approved! Submitted on a Friday, APPROVED on Wednesday. CLEO gets his copy tomorrow morning. |
The government is just that fucking inefficient that it took until 2024 for the digital breakthrough at the ATF.
They were probably still running windows 95 until last year. |
They outsourced the background checks. Before it was literally a few people sitting in an office going through whatever was on their desk essentially, looking each one up, etc. Now all of that has been automated by the third party. At least that is my understanding of what happened.
That being said, I put a few in queue last week. Just did the certification on them yesterday. Let's see what happens. |
Any good guides on paperwork? My local nfa dealer says he can't help....not happy but whatever.
I have 3 suppressors at his place to get out of jail and don't know how to do it right. |
I have been looking to pick up a few new cans but my local guy doesn't have any of the cans I want in stock. Hes a great guy with a great company so I really don't want to give anyone else my business if I can help it.

The patterns we’ve seen as a shop that uses the Silencershop kiosk.
All are done as individuals Most, as in the ones that know the information, are people that would get an instant proceed when a NICS check is called in. The story we’ve put together is that the ATF got a spanking and was told to hurry things up. As a result they are working from the top of the pile on things they know are a quick turnaround. I’m personally at 10 months on a trust but I sold a can last Weds that was picked up on Mon. |
Had plans...bought a Shadow 2 and Q5 Match SF so that drained the budget.
I have about thirty suppressors so I haven't bought anything lately.
Hopefully they can get the backlog completely ironed out and stick to same day approvals in the future. |
I ordered six cans last month, One of them was turned around in 72ish hours..... the rest???? No idea, still in jail.
I bought my first can in September of 2023. It took five months for it to be approved. I picked it up in February of 2024.
Now that they’re being approved in a matter of days I’ve been looking for one in either 45 or 9mm to take advantage of the fast approval times. But every where I look everything is OOS. You neckbeards need to stop buying all the cans so I can get a second one. |
Already had cans. Pulled the trigger on another because of the short times. Was approved in 5 days.
I want 3 more cans and a few SBRs. But I'm not goi g to bite until I am SURE the system is going to be fast for me too.
A long wait at this point would make me worried I was escalated to a higher level of background check, which would create undue stress. |
Not my first but these fast approvals have prompted me to get another. For sure.
8 days on an individual last month.
1-13-24 and waiting on a Trust |
I'm on day 23, and this wait has been worse than my first. July-April
I expected a slow turn around, so I just bought and forgot. But now I'm checking constantly |
I submitted one late monday night and had approval by 2pm today (1.5 days). Insane. Form 4, individual
I got my prints today, I’m about to file two SBR tomorrow, hope all goes well. Individual.
Been meaning to put the Numbers down: 1. NFA Item: TiON Dragoon 2. Transferee Type: Individual 3. Method: E-File 4. Form E-Mailed: 3-29-2024 at 12:20 PM 5. Pending: 3-29-2024 at 12:20 PM 6. BATFE E-Mail: 4-3-24 at 9:38 AM Total Time 96 Hours and 21 Minutes Attached File |
The short wait times convinced me to sell my factory KAC SBR. Glad I did.
Mine all go on my Trust so I get to play the year long waiting game
Blows my mind some people will only buy a silencer so long as the wait is “short”…. Hahaha
Dip shits could have bought whatever silencers years ago and had it that much sooner |
I just had five approved with a 24hr turn around from submitted/in-process to approved. Had a handful that were 4-6 weeks late last year/early January. I’ve been doing this for 20+ years and have had traditional Form 4s take as little as 30 days to 12+ months. My first Eform4 was in 2021 and that was about 12 months.
I submitted two form 4s 2 years ago, denied a year in because my dealer didn't send in a fingerprint card. Resubmitted in August and still waiting.
If the suppressor I've been looking at recently is still in stock on payday I'm ordering it. Maybe it will get approved before my other 2. |
This is a prelude to declaring all ARs & AK "readily convertible machineguns" and trying to force us to register them all. The wait times are down to show the Supremes how it's not much of a burden.
I got three form 4s approved today. One submitted on 4/8/24, one on 4/9/24 both individual filed, and one on a single shot trust that i submitted on 1/29/24. I got three emails from the ATF for them 1 min apart each. Last week I got a individual filed can approved as well but it didn't get bundled with the trust one.
Cans that got approved were a Flow 556k, Polonium K, Omega 9k, and the one from last week was a Surefire Mini2. Pretty excited to go shoot them! |
Literally heading to Capitol Armory now to get fingerprints done. This will be my first stamp in about ten years and my first as an individual.
Picked up two this week. One on Monday, another on Tuesday. Both certified on the previous Thursday. Now I just wish some more stock would come in.

Hahaha Dip shits could have bought whatever silencers years ago and had it that much sooner View Quote It's human nature to not want money (Especially to the government) just floating around in who knows land. The fast times, combined with great product on the market, and a LOT of sales going on for cans creates the perfect time to buy! |
I want to get in on the fun, but really have no need.
I’ve already got over ten cans, a couple SBR, a couple SBS, machinegun… I just don’t need anything right now. |
Ordered my first 2 on 16 February. Still waiting on approval.
I submit as a trust, no quick approvals for me as of yet.
New NFA owners is a good thing though. |
All my stuff is in a trust, so I’d like new additions to be in the trust, let me know when the trust wait times get better.
I’d love a 9mm and a low back pressure 5.56 can. |
