I was at my mechanics today who has a 46 Willys; I believe I mentioned this somewhere around here last year around this time. I thought yhis thing had sold because it just vanished the one day. He stored it in the back of his garage, out of sight, because of all the offers he was recieving. He dropped his price for me by 1k down to 1k.
The frame is beautiful. Needs body work. Hasn't been inspected or driven since '67 but was barn and garage stored. Has everything except the steering box. Have the cash and the wifes seal of approval. This grand is suddenly burning a hole in my pocket. I will get these photos hosted shortly, I'm currently chasing down my last code after a motor swap. Give me 30 minutes, I'll be back. |

I'd buy that. Yeah, my mechanic bought it out of the original owners barn. I'll likely need to rebuild the motor and tranmission and possibly the differentials. Would I be looking for custom shops or any local shops. If I buy it I want to do it right and that flathead motor could be cleaned up a bit if nothing else. |

If you really want it, go for it.
Be prepared to spend thousands of dollars keeping it running. NOS parts are hard to come by, and they're expensive. It will be a maintenance hog. All military vehicles, new or old, are. Be prepared for break downs in the most inconvenient places. |

If you've got the time, cash for parts, patience and a current tetanus shot you should go for it. They are great fun to drive and everyone who sees you in it will smile. EVERYBODY loves a Willys. Jeeps are one of the easiest project builds because of that. 1k is a very good deal. |

| My grandpa had one before he passed. My dad taught me how to drive a standard transmission in it when I was fifteen. I forgot to and didn't know how to downshift. The first couple corners felt like we we're gonna roll til I got the hang of it. My grandpa lived down by Webbers Falls, OK and I only got to go twice a year. Seemed like he was always working on it but always had it running when I went down there. My dad and I were supposed to inherit it when he died. The bitch he got remarried to after my grandma had passed away sold it or something. We never saw it again. |

Backstory, I just got done dropping a newer D16Y7 into my 98 civic dx. I did that because my Mustang needs a lot of TLC and I found out the hard way that my 5.7 HEMI had an oil pick-up tube problem. I'll be back to work for the first time these last two weeks tomorrow. I asked because we've underwent a significant financial strain these past few weeks. I sold guns to make things happen and passed on a sweet JKU just a week ago. Brb guys. |
