This is a 1964 barreled action in a B&C stock.
According to Remington, they used stainless barrels on the 7mm rem mag and 264 win mag in the early 60's as they were believed to be barrel burners. They also used the receivers with the notch on 7mm rem mag and 300 H&H mags to allow room for loading the "big magnums". My later 700s in 7mm mag don't have this notch so they must have realized it isn't needed. Regardless, you don't see many of these older notched receivers anymore.
The stainless metal has a nice matte appearance. It has the old style flat safety that locks the bolt. Original trigger tuned to a crisp 2 1/2 lbs.
The iron sights have been removed. The rear holes have filler screws, the front holes have been filled.

I no longer have the original wood stock that is in the first picture (sold it on 24hcf), only the B&C stock. The stock was bought used and has been opened up for an oversized recoil lug and could probably be bedded, but it puts 3 shots under an inch at 100 yards as it sits.
