I'm looking for advice on quality socks to keep my feets as dry & fresh as possible when I wear boots  thanks in advance |

The USGI issue socks I find work really well, Also if you want to spend some money ( which I recomend, as you only will ever have two feet :) ) is that you get some SEALSKINZ Socks. They are excellent for keeping your feet warm or dry. What type of weather do you plan on trudging through? Maybe a pair of gortex socks, inside your boots would be better for wet wheather? |
both hot and cold. for cold weather I already have some fine sock but I need something for the summer |
no problem at all finding fine wool sock but I was also looking for some /adviceopinion about all those socks I see on catalogues like Brigade Quartermaster, etc. |
Gotcha, don't know about anything out there besides wool varietals. You can't go wrong with them, just vary the weight/thickness to your climate and season. |
| For sure! Honestly, around here if you own a decent pair of boots youll survive. Wool is good all year round and if it icthes or bothers just wear a pair of cotton socks under. Permitting you do not do anything to hot because then you will sweat and have bad breathing problems. |
| I've been using Thor-lo's for about 7 years now. Most pairs last me for 3-4 years before they thin out. That's wearing them daily in rotation with composite toe safety Matterhorns. They were/maybe still are making a Combat Sock too. I think Brigade sells them for about $12 to $15 per pair, but they are made in North Carolina and at some nearby Thor-lo factory outlets you can get them for $4 to $6 per pair. |
Blatant but honest plug warning: We were surprised to find that the 5.11 socks were one of the most popular items we sell on a regular basis out of our new store. I have a lot of guys who have rucked and run dozens of miles in these socks and swear by them. Admittedly it is currently the ONLY sock we carry, but some of our hard-use customers prefer these over other higher-end socks. The common comment seems to be that their feet stay "drier"- you can't keep your feet completely dry when you pound ground no matter what sock you have, but these seem to make your feet as comfy as can be. Not something you'd expect from a "one-size-fits-all" sock that is inexpensive to boot (pun intended).

All my socks are Thorlo. I litterally cannot wear em out. The elastic goes beofre the actual sock. I have the combat boot socks, athletic socks, dress socks, yo uname it. The comabt boot socks are a little tall for anything but 10" boots and are thus a little too warm for summer wear IMO. |
