Barrel length does not matter but choke does.  Ammo also matters.  Can't answer the question as it very general.  It may also very from shotgun to shotgun.  If you are using a modified choke it is going to be pretty much the same as if you were shooting an 18,5" barrel with modifed choke.  The idea that short barrels have more spread is due to the fact that many short barrels are cut down from long barrels and the choke is cut off so you have a straight pipe barrel with no choke.  Not today.  Some of the Short barrels are even threaded for chokes.   One of the popluar Remington barrels for the SBS is the 14" and of the six models of that barrel that Remington offers they are all modified choke except one that is threaded for Rem Choke.

The best answer for this will come from guys that own these wepaons and they will also state what ammo was used.

ok 2 ore questions to add to the above ones??

if i cut bown a side by side double barrel or single shot could i have it rethreaded for chokes?

if i did a pump or auto could i get a real real short barrel and a tube just long enough for the pump to still have a guide?

basically i  want a shotgun about 8 inchs long (like the serbu kinda) can i build this myself an put a choke in it.

i find some things ppl do stupid like cut a shotgun barrel to 6 inchs and at 2 feet it shoots a 4 foot pattern or somebody takes a bolt action riflr an cuts it to 4 inch barrel. NO Offense Intended. this is my opinion an i just want to better educate those tryin to help me.

Yes, you probably can have chokes installed if the barrel wall is thick enough. On a 12 ga most barrel that are at least .805" in outside diameter at the muzzle can accept choke tubes. Double guns may need a bit more thickness, generally .810" or larger will do it.

Start with Modified, and also check Improved Cylinder (IC) to see what patterns best with your choice of ammo. Although at 10 yards your probably not going to see much difference with either choke, stretch the distance out to 25-30 yards to get a better idea of  what is happening.

Briley is brand of  choke tube (and they also make/do other things gun related)
