Okay heres the deal, i picked up a mac 11/9mm from a budy of mine for 20 bucks, yes thats right 20 bucks. only problem is that its got a little bit of surface rust on it, i've tried brillo and rem-oil. and it didn't seem to help. any tips? |

Okay heres the deal, i picked up a mac 11/9mm from a budy of mine for 20 bucks, yes thats right 20 bucks. only problem is that its got a little bit of surface rust on it, i've tried brillo and rem-oil. and it didn't seem to help. if its a blued mac-11 you can remove the rust with tripple 000 or quad 0000 fine steel wool and GOOD gun oil. not the cheap shit they give you in gun cleaning kits! if its parkerized, forget it! you wont get the rust off it without removing the parkerizing and severley dis-coloring it. kirk |

| If it has rust on it, think about a re-finishing job. For $20, its worth getting it stripped (bead blasted etc) down to bare metal. Then get it re-parked (costly) or spray it with GunKote or Dura-coat (less expensive). Once rust starts, its tough to completely neutralize it, and the finish WILL be affected where ever the rust was. Still a steal for that price. |
