[ARCHIVED THREAD] - mags

What are the best mags to use in my ar15. I have sveral okay industry mags and most of these work fairly well though some are really old and cause the gun to jam. I also have some other miscilanius mags these for the most part tend to jam. What would your sugestions be on what to use?

If the feedlips are in good shape, and there aren't any dents or dings causing the mag not to sit right, then you may just ned new springs. Check out the Magazine forum and look up the FAQ page. It's all there.

frawley, stay with USGI mags. In order of preference:

1. USGI mags
2. Thermold/MasterMold
3. Orlite

don't waste your money on anything else

I agree, but in the end I would stick pretty much exclusively to USGIs.

Don't have much experience with thermolds (only have one) and my Orlites have sucked! They bulge out when loaded, making insertion and removal a bit more of a chore. And I've had more than one mag spit out two or three rounds when fully loaded.
