Dont lie... How many times have you cleared your house since you got that thing? How do you like the Burris Prism? Are you shooting 55gr bullets or heavier? I'm wondering how my Sig rifle will like it since I only shoot heavier 62+ grain bullets. I'm hoping the bullet drop compenstion wont be to far off. |

Quoted: Just my opinion, and as a 556 SBR owner, the gun looks a LOT better with that ridiculous flange on the end of the upper receiver removed. I cut mine off with a Dremmel and a cutting wheel in less than 5 minutes. That was the first thing I did as well. I did put on a Troy rail, though. I'm waiting on my 551-A1 lower for my Sig SBR. I sent in a check to avoid CC charges so it is taking a little while. Bah. Awesome looking SBR, OP. I'm more excited to get mine, now. It'll be another project to accumulate magazines. I ordered a 30round and the lower is coming with a 20 round.

I won a bid on Gunbroker (didn't think I'd win...) last weekend after talking to you. I was thinking of getting a black one, but I like the idea of having the gray lower. I figure if I don't like the two-tone, then I can always make it black. I got the 20 round magazine with it to make it easier to shoot it prone (Who am I kidding? It's for shooting off of a bench...). I'm going to call Sig and order some 30 rounders next month if they still have the $38.50 deal going. Is there any magazine wobble? Also, how is the cheekweld on the stock?

I certainly don't have your stature. I stopped growing at 5'10". :( Thanks for the heads up. I was going to just keep my AR-mag lower for the Sig, but I want something different. I'm ready for this thing to get here. As far as cheekweld, I had an ACS-L and the cheekweld is phenomenal. I've since gone back to a UBR, though, to get rid of any wobble. Can you compare the cheekweld to any of the Magpul stocks? Also, which flash hider is that? I know it's one of the Sig flash hiders, but I checked Colorado Gun Sales and didn't see it there. I have a Smith Vortex, which is similar, but I'd like to change that as well. |
| Poppy, I got the FH from RTG international but it is the same one MFI sells I am pretty sure. I also have a couple on AR SBR's. I have read alot of bad things about the birdcage Sig FH causing potential accuracy problems due to build up/ corrosion so I changed my straight away. The original lower that came on mine (pictured with the A1 lower) has a magpul MOE stock and the cheek weld is comparable to the Swiss stock but a little different as the Swiss one slopes a little. Overall the feel is different but in a good way. You will be pleased. I prefer the folding aspect as it fits under my arm well as opposed to the telescoping type. |

I've contacted a local business (well, 2 hours away...local...) that does cerakote and he said they can do the Sig Gray. Not that I'm a purist, but I would like it to be close to the "real" thing and different than my ARs. I have been searching and am finding all sorts of variations in what a gray Sig rifle looks like. In some pictures, it looks really light and in others, it is much darker. Can anyone comment on how dark Sig Gray actually is? Examples of different gray Sigs: EDIT -Sorry ddnc if I'm hijacking your thread... |

Been wanting to swap out the factor flash hider for that one. How tough is romoving the factory flash hider? Heard it can be a huge bitch. Anyone? |

Thanks for the reply, ddnc. I can't figure out what the color looks like because like you said, the lighting changes the look big time. I have to admit, though, I kind of like the black look... You did motivate me to go ahead and order the MFI flash hider last week. It came in today and looks a lot better than the A2 I had on there. @M4 - My 556 was the pistol version and came with an A2 flash hider. I just took an adjustable wrench and was able to pretty easily twist it right off. It took a bit of torque, but it was easily doable. |

I used a 16" long handled flat headed screw driver that I normally use on Rem870 butt stock screws...insert the flat blade through one side of the flash slots and extend through to the other side, required about 45lbs of torque. "Righty tighty-Lefty loosey." There should be no soldering or blind pinning from the factory. |
