Hola.

How does 308 compare to 223 recoil wise? A few weeks back I dumped a mag (10 rounder, woot!) with his Pony Gun (Colt 6400c I think) and the recoil was controllable. I've never shot a 308-so maybe could anyone tell me, how bad is a 308 recoil wise?

More than a .223, but still mild. More of a "push." M1As, FALs, AR10s are quite pleasant, HK91 a bit more recoil. My friends and I routinely shoot 100+ rounds each of .308 per range trip through our M1As easily. 308s equipped with muzzlebreaks are more painful to the ear than shoulder; an M1A with a flash suppressor is neither.

I would call it "muzzle climb" before I called it recoil.

+1 on the above.

If you're shooting an M1a style rifle, there's more weight to help attenuate the recoil impulse. I noticed that 5.56/.223 has a sharp (yet light) recoil impulse where the .308 has a bit bigger yet slower push.

Either way it's nothing to worry about unless you have recoil/loud noise issues.

Huh. I was actually considering buying an M1a or 20" AR15 once I get back for summer break. I like the M1A, but the lighter recoil of the AR15 appeals to me simply 'cause I am a pansy and I like it that way !

Oh yeah, i like 9mm too!

I'd say 308 is maybe double the recoil? It seems quite a bit louder I will say that.
