Looking for a cheap yet durable workbench for under $100 if possible or good materials for making a homemade one.

I have the materials for mine in the garage right now.  It’s going to be my Saturday project.

Lowe's has precut Stain ready table tops in various sizes:

I purchased a 48x24x1" (LxWxH) that is the largest size in 1" that they had.  It was $28.99.  There are longer sections but they are only 3/4".

I also purchased 1 4x4x8 to support the table top which is more than likely overkill but I’ll use it for other projects.

Use 2x4's for your legs and supports how many is going to depend on the height you want, shelves, so on.

Purchase whatever color stain you want just make sure it is heavy wear and water resistant.  I like the natural color of the wood so I used polyurethane it is pretty heavy duty and will resist most gun cleaners/lubes.

If I can I'll post pictures after it is finished but my materials total was under 100.00.  Don't have the exact number since I purchased other items that day as well.  Hope this helps you!

Also there is about 50 different videos for building a work bench on youtube.

Built mine out of a solid-core door for the top and a 2x4 frame (doubled up the 2x4s for stability).  I built the bench about 12 years ago but just put up the pegboard and shelf this weekend.
