Are they any good? Could you recommend one?

I have a detached apartment that I figure I could cover with a wireless system , it's only 5' off of my house.

Any major disadvantages?

There is one I have been interested in called Laser Shield, it is supposed to be the best but I cannot find any non-ad type reviews on it or any first hand accounts of someone who owns one.  Although a little pricey it seems like a real quality unit.

I wonder if the pet shield works on that , I'd be afraid of my dog setting it off all the time.
I was looking at something like this.

I have a security company and the Admeco stuff is OK. The wireless stuff works nicely but the Lynx panel isn't what I call a top of the line control panel. If you look at it the siren, dialer and keypad is built into one unit. If a burglar comes in through your entry door and hears the panel/keypad beeping for you to disarm it all he/she has to do is smash it and your system is turned off for good. If you can get yourself a Vista 20 and keypad, and locate the control panel in a closet or basement and the keypad by the door that would be much better then the cheap Lynx setup. Good luck and if you have any other questions send them my way.

I have a Skylink dialer with a smoke and water alarm to alert me to a fire or leaking pipes while I am away.  I wanted to add motion sensors and a siren to this for security.  Anyone have any experience with Skylink?
