So it seems that my local Walmart wants to get rid of some of their shotgun ammo..

Is there a general concensus on the quality of Winchester AA target loads versus the Remington stuff?

Go AA.

I prefer Remington shotgun shells over Winchester. They just seem to cycle better in my 1100. My 870 will eat anything, but for target shooting or hunting I use my 1100.

What is the price?  Its $7.57 / box in Kentucky and has been since January 08

Some of the loads are on sale for $5 and from what I hear it is just in sporadic locations.

At $5 a box given the current price (and likely future prices) of ammo I'd buy all I could of both

I'd love to buy em out but I just bought a case of 9mm last night so my budget is noticeably strained.

So I have a very newb question to ask because of all firearms I know the least about shotguns, but what are these different shot sizes (7 1/2, 8, 9) ideally suited for, and which size is the most versatile.

All kinds of shotgun shell info

Given that I mainly use my scatter guns for clay birds and live birds... if I had to pick only one size of shot it would be 7 1/2

Federal and Remington both function better than the low "brass" white metal case head winchester loads IME.

Check your local China~Mart Wal~Mart stores fellows. My local store had 20 GA Winchester AA target loads marked down to $5.00 / box.

I say "had" because they don’t have them any longer
