Will shooting 45 Colt long through a 410 shotgun harm it ???

I would shoot factory loads only

and lead only.

I am getting different answers ..

My question is what are the chamber pressures for the 45 colt long
and a 410 shotgun

My reloading books do not have shotgun pressures listed .

Probably have a better chance if you reversed that... can probably shoot .410 shot thru a .45LC bbl, but I wouldn't try to shoot pistol ammo thru long (non rifled?) barrel.

But...

Why would you want to do either?

I have an old 410 shotgun that I use for a camp gun

would like the  --------- option to shot a 45 colt if the need arrose without having to many guns in camp. (kids)

Was just wondering if it can be done,  heard people say it could --- was not sure myself ???

I'm pretty sure you would blow up.  I would email Remington or Federal and ask them the chamber pressures for the .410 and 45 colt.

45Colt
Case dia---.480
Bullet dia---.456
Bore dia---.452

.410 Shotgun
Base dia---.469

I don't think this would be the hot setup...

Actually it looks like you can, if you have the right gun. Found a couple here:

Why not .410 slugs? You already have the colt ammo or something?

Years ago I heard of people shooting 44-40 cartridges in 410 shotguns but never had the balls to try it.

The shotgun barrel  is not rifled accuracy will suck. the american derringers are rifled.

cyanide

dude dont do it.

The chamber presure of a .45 LC is much higher than a .410.

a 410 slug has a power of a .44 mag

use a slug

You wouldn't be the first or last to pull this stunt.  In Missouri it was used as a dodge for deer hunting, but I never could figure out why anyone thought .45LC was an improvement over a Foster slug; except that they were mostly the ignorant variety of  hillbillies.

Everyone's point is that it's not the shotgun you should worry about.

Use .410 slugs, very easy to find.

I had Thunder 5 revolver, it used both. I think the weapon has to be specifically made to handle both loads though.

Thank you people ---- I will stick to slugs
