Well. Why not? Double stack mags for more capacity. |
|
Double stacking is doable. The rimfire shells do cause problems though. The only way to overcome the problem is to bend and curve the magazine to a higher degree or cheat with a strong spring rate. I have a GSG mag that I have converted to double stack, but its still not totaly reliable. I havent touched it here lately. But the main problem has been the feed lip design. Double stacking creates more presure on the shell when it sit in the lips, than when the shell is slid forward and beyond the lips they want to jump. They end up jumping enough to cause a jam. Ive seen stock guns that are junk due to this and bad feedlip design. I need to extend the top lips so it cant jump. Also going to install full wire sidewalls for the mag body. .22 is dirty as hell and after a couple mags the clips get to dirty to feed from a full 30rd. The wire should slick it up enough to ignore the problem. Should be good than. Ive had the gun go through 30rds a few times in a row without a hitch. Its just not good enough to call it done though. Im still pretty busy but I havent forgot about it. Ill give you guys a heads up here soon. So far the mods are. Shorten Follower. Shorten Follower tabs. Wire feed lip guiders. Thinned mag walls. (Double Stack) Lengthened Follower track. Mag body screws. Mag body reinforcement clip. Feedlip spaceing. Mag alingment bumper. So add wire sidewalls and extended lips to the list of WTF. Sounds like a ton of shit, and sorta is, but If I come up with the time, Ill show you guys how. That is if I can get it to totaly work and down to a straight enough forward process for you guys to follow. Paperclips, superglue, a drill, sandpaper and knife have done most the work. A drimel helps a ton though. |
Sounds great! pics of what you've already done would be cool too. |

Anybody know what this is all about? What is better than a 35 dollar GSG-5 mag |
Looks like someone has gotten on the bandwagon to make mags... |
by the schematic, it looks like the same mag with 2 springs instead of one and they will probably just sell it for under $20. that design doesn't look good for those 2 springs may inter-twine with eachother. |
