bbl length looks to be 16", but I can't tell for sure.

If this is the military original, then the barrel is shorter than 16" (about 12" ?), and it has both a shotgun and a rifle tube, I would guess AOW is a better description than SBR or SBS. The tax stamp would be more manageable also ($5 vs $2-400).

As I recall, Springfield Armory make these now, but with an 18" barrel (?) to take it out of the NFA realm.

The original military version had 14" barrels.

Just get the Springfield armory M6.  It's not an NFA item, but it's the same thing.

It's close to the same thing- the original was a .222 if I recall while the reproductions are (usually) 22LR or 22Mag.

That one is an M6 but its made by Ithaca.

Why would the military issue a survival rifle chambered in .222 rather than 5.56?
Or are they interchangable? ie non-military cartridge for commie county export?

Original was in .22 Hornet & .410.
