A friend posted this question on a local board. I told him I would post it here for a larger audience.

I recently picked up a couple pounds of TAC and am starting load development but had a question. I am loading 55gr Sierra Semi point and the data from Ramshot has the start load at 23.4 and max at 26 with a 2.240 col. Keep in mind their data is based off a 24" barrel w/ 1-12 twist. Now the Sierra data for an AR-15 has the start load at 24.7 and max at 26.3. Which data do you go with? Right now I am leaning toward the Sierra because it's geared toward the AR but wanted to see what others thought. Loading for a 16" 1-9
Thanks

You can always trust Sierra's data, it's not hot or low, I usually find it just about on par with the results I get with every bullet I have loaded using their data(except 6.8SPC, they are way low but everyone else is also due to the original chamber spec's).

ETA: SP= soft point not semi point

Use a start load of 24 grains.
