I believe I have my bases covered, but is there anything I should be doing between the time the application is sent in and approval (homebased licensee)?

I already have the following done:

  • LLC formed

  • Registered with the state for sales tax reporting

  • Obtained a general retail business license (can't get a license for firearm sales and transfers w/o a FFL #)

  • Bank account set up

  • Separate phone line

  • Form 4473s on hand as well as the forms for reporting sales of multiple handguns

  • Business equipment in place (copier, scanner, fax)

  • Business cards

  • Some promotional swag

  • Website ready

  • Google+ page set up (not sure how valuable this is, but it's free)

Is there anything else I should or can be doing while waiting?

Congrats on your new business adventure! You sound like me, I had everything covered including website domain, business cards, etc.. Seems you have most of the stuff covered. Some companies like RSR went ahead and let me setup an account with them (non-ffl) but it's already setup and as soon as the license comes, email them a copy and they will turn on the firearms part. Let the waiting begin! My license went live on EZCheck on Thursday. They said it was sent out in the mail on the 5th, as of today, still nothing in my mailbox! Waiting is the toughest part of the process! Good luck!

Insurance.

I'm checking on that.  Any specific recommendations for a HB FFL?

Sorry, the only rule there is not talk about what is said there. However, networking with other dealers and manufacturers is always beneficial.

The reason that site is near dead is a group buy orchestrated by the forum owner, Gun Envy LLC.

Group buy turned into one of the most epic of clusterfucks. More than a few lost significant $$$$ on BCG's that were delivered late or not delivered at all.
