What should I use to degrease my AR prior to using krylon? Gun Scrubber? Brake cleaner?, Purple Power and hot water?

I used the automotive surface prep stuff from autozone on the metal parts.

I'd be afraid to put it on the plastic parts though.

Maybe alcohol as a degreaser/cleaner for the plastic parts.

I use acetone, followed by a hot bath of tri-sodium phosphate, followed by boiling distilled water long enough to heat the metal to flash dry on removal from the watner. .

Brake cleaner from Wal-Mart or any auto parts store.  Just get the kind that leaves no residue and you're good to go.

Thourough scrubbing with hot water and soap, followed by a rinse in alcohol will work too.

I first wash it in purple power, allow to dry, then rinse in denatured alcohol or acetone.
