Just ordered my 1st AR15 from Rock River. On their web site it has - Caliber 223 Wylde Chamber. What is that kind of chamber. I though a 223 was just a 223.

I wondered the same thing looking through my RRA catalogue.  I am interested in a 24" flattop for varmint work and noticed they are chambered for .223 Wylde.  I assume it is just tighter tolerances with more regard to accuracy than to reliability.  Hopefully if that is not the case someone will reply.

I'm pretty sure about this, but not positive, the Wylde chamber falls somewhere in-between the 5.56 Mil spec chamber and the .223 SAAMI chamber. I'm assuming it's to try and achieve the "best of both worlds" thing.
