Have a couple of questions for the experts here:

Where can I locate a SP89 front grip (not a "K" grip)?   This is the one that the SP89 came from the factory with.

Any suggestions as to which black paint to use to touch up a small area on the receiver of a Special Weapons SW5?

Thanks,

Don

Good luck on the sp89 grip, but if you find one, and have the bw89 front grip, I would be interested in buying it off ya.  Keep in touch-

just keep in mind you can not put a K grip on a SP89 pistol. If you do it would make it a AOW. You can do the paper work up and make it a AOW for $200.00 or make a SBR out of it $200.00.
To put the K-grip on the pistol will cost you $200.00 for the tax stamp/

IIRC.  Install K grip is AOW, and it's $5.00 tax, not $200.00 tax.
Installing stock is SBR.  As SBR, you can have stock and/or K grip.

If he gos SBR it will cost him $200.00. once a SBR he then can put the k-grip on the rifle

To make a AOW it will cost him $200.00 to make. Then if sold it will cost $5.00 to transfur.

If he was to buy a SP89 registored as a AOW from a class 2 the tax would be $5.00.  For any one other then a class 2 to make the AOW it will cost $200.00

For paint I picked up some HK black from Fleming Firearms. On the bottle is has touch up paint for H&K guns. The color is a great match on my SW5FS.

This makes better sense....

From : www.quarterbore.com/nfa/sbr-aow-pistol.html

The AOW and SBR route both require ATF and FBI paperwork and NFA taxes.  The SBR comes with a $200 manufacture or transfer tax while an AOW has a $200 manufacture cost and a $5 transfer tax.  Accordingly, if you can have your local C-2 manufacturer build and register an AR-15 AOW and then transfer it to you for a $5 transfer. If you do it yourself it's a $200 tax. You do not need to work with a C-2/C-3 dealer to do either of these conversions... Just sent the ATF and FBI your prints, pictures, and application and wait a few months until the papers come back!  I do not know how much a C2/C3 dealer would charge to register a lower as an AOW and then transfer it to you.

Even though this is getting way off topic, I thought I would add this to clarify things.

The best thing for folks to do, AOW wise, would be to have it "made" by a qualified builder... then transfered to them for 5 bucks.

Why are people talking about SBRs and AOWs when that's not what the original poster asked about?

All,

Not trying to make or considering making a SBR or AOW, just looking for information on a HK89/SW89/BW89 front non K hand grip.

And thanks for the heads up on the paint.  Any other recommendations on how to touch up a few areas on a receiver?

Thanks,

Don

You ever find it? I need a couple as well.
Thanks
