Iam thinking about purchasing Vector's V-53 SBR weapon but I had a few questions concerning the weapon. I spoke to Vector Arms on the phone and though they were very friendly they couldn't give out any information on who manufactures their receivers. I would like to inspect one of these weapons before I purchase but I don't know of any dealers who may have them in the Arizona area. If anyone has any insight or first hand knowledge as to the reliability of Vector's V93/53 rifles it would be greatly appreciated?hug.gif |

Their receivers were made by Special Wapons...I THINK they still are. I have an ORF 53 built on this same receiver. The receivers are nice. I have a buddy that has an SBR'd 53 that he bought straight from Vector....he is very happy with it. He uses his sear in it and says it work very good. Hope this helps. |

The first V53 I received was the gun from hell. Even after a trip back to Vector and a lot of tinkering it was just not reliable. They decided to replace the gun. The new V53 they sent me is much nicer than the first one. The fit and finish is impressive. I replaced the MP-5 hand guard with the longer 53 version. http://members.cox.net/ljt3/V53/V3CloseR.jpg http://members.cox.net/ljt3/V53/V3CloseL.jpg http://members.cox.net/ljt3/V53/V3WeldsAR.jpg http://members.cox.net/ljt3/V53/V3LR.jpg I finally got out to the range to test it. I put 400 rounds through it without a problem. Ejection was crisp and all the casings flew in a nice consistent arc, not all over the place like the first gun. The people at Vector are awesome and will make sure you are a satisfied customer. Even the best clone makers have an occasional problem but, the good ones will take care of you. I had to be patient but now that its fixed I'm very happy with it. I just have to file and wait for the Form 1 to be approved for SBR so I can remove the ugly barrel extension. |
Todd also once said he was going to buy HK GmbH. Todd said that there would be a Sig 55x clone, jeez, two years ago. Todd says a lot of things. I'd like to hear what Vector says on the subject. |

Good point. I just called Vector...The HK dept was gone for the day. She is going to have someone call me tomorrow. I will be on vacation, so I can post on July 12th. She did say that they are definetly NOT made in house and are made by an outside vendor....maybe POF is making them now...haha. I could care less either way....I just don't like when someone calls BULLSHIT on me without knowing any better...that's all. Have a good weekend. |
| I like the old V53s that came with the SEF trigger housing. Its now $50 if you want that instead of the navy style housing. I think I've found the SEF style trigger housing for about $40 elsewhere so I guess I'll have both laying around. It looks like I'll be taking the plunge into one of these V53s myself this week. Anybody know the dealer cost on one of these? Now I've got to get some goodies together (Surefire rail handguard, vertical grip, SBR forms, sling, ACE stock (no folding bits until the AWB goes, mount for Eotech, etc.). I was considering the V93 clones instead of the V53 but in my novice hands there probably wouldn't be much of an accuracy gain. So I'm defaulting to the one the 'looks cooler.' |
