I usually like to buy new guns because I'm no gunsmith, and other than if the basics of a gun operate (bolt, trigger), have no idea what else to look for other than cosmetics which I could care less.

Anyway, been reading here and rimfirecentral trying to get ideas on a good 22LR.  My local pawn/gun shop has a used Savage MKII with accutrigger, synthetic stock, heavy barrel for $200.00.  It also has a Konus scope.   Now I assume the scope is cheap as heck.  So maybe the scope and rings are $50-60 total?  Cheap Konus scopes any good for the $?

Anyway, if the gun is mechanically sound, does this sound like a good deal.   Gun will be used to work on shooting skills and to kill the damn animal or bird that killed my young hen in the pasture this week.

sounds like a steal to me. i have a mkii without the accutrigger and sporter barrel for plinking. impicking up a heavy barrel, accutrigger, thumbhole model as a trainer rifle.
but the rifle and buy a mueller APV 4-514x44mm and a harris bipod and call it good!
