Bought a DSA STG58 Type II rifle last night, it's "supposed" to be here in two weeks according to the FFL (DSA told me 4 weeks).

All thanks to Paul at the GF pit a few years ago.

Any of you guys have some tips/hints for me?
I have been checking out the FAL Files.

You did good, get you an extractor tool, buttstock tool, front sight-gas nut tool, ammo, and a crap load of metric mags and you'll be good to go.

I hope your rifle comes in that quick, but I wouldn't count on it. I ordered mine in early April and I'm still waiting for it.

      Good Luck with it.

Crap, you mean I have to outfit my gun butchering smithing toolbox with more stuff?

Great choice!  I love my DSA STG58.  Personally, I think the FAL design is the best of all the .308 "battle" rifles.  The only weakness is the trigger, but I've heard a rumor that a certain manufacturer and board Industry Partner is working on a FAL trigger. I hope they get it right and I hope it's as good as their other adjustable drop in trigger kit.

You'll also probably end up wanting to change the hand guards to plastic or wood since the metal originals get really hot (unless you never rapid fire it).

I'm planning to buy a DSA Para-Congo hopefully this winter, funds permitting. I have one more NFA toy to buy first.

The price of the DSA STG58 Austrian rifle went up by $95!!

Good thing I got mine when I did.

I just picked it up from my FFL, read the manuals and now I am off to the range to see what kind of fun I can have.

Nice,.....

I just dropped out of the .308 club except for two bolt guns.

I had one of Derek's (AZEXARMS) Custom builds but I found myself taking it to the range less and less often.  It was a great rifle but I got a woody for the Arsenal SA M-7SF and worked out an even trade.

Thanks Bud, I really like this rifle. It is well balanced, fun to shoot, doesn't kick like other .308s, and will accept all the tactical goodies I have for my ARs. Get one, you wont regret it!
Or, in ARFCOM tradition, get both
