I'm looking for some recommendations for a travel case for my M16.  I'm going to the Indiana Stat Submachinegun Championships.  I totally spaced about a case to fly with.  I'm looking for a large case for the lower and several uppers.  Any suggestions on what and where to buy would be helpful.

I have been to the Pelican site and was interested inthe the Pelican 1750.  Anyone know who would have a better price that the Pelican website?  I was also looking at machineguncases.com, but they don't give any dimentions.  Any help would be appreciated.

I'm suprised no one has mentioned Storm cases.  The same beefiness of a pelican with better ergonomics (better latches, seals, etc).

canon3825,

+1 on Pelican
+1 on Botach Tactical
CPD Industries may be competitive too if HDCS foam (see below) is not available at Botach.

Make sure you get high-density closed-cell foam.
Request 2" and 1" layers and cut it to your needs.
Use a hot glue gun to secure layers together once you're happy with the layout.
If you screw up, you can order more.

Pluck foam is weak and allows the contents to move.
It also takes on moisture. (BAD NEWS)
Best of luck at the match.

You might Froogle it.

Pelican cases are super, I have used them to ship my computer gear.  They may also offer colors other than black.

Good shipping & good shooting!

Botac was where I purchased mine...it has been several years though.

I prefer the Pelican case....there are several others that compete with them now though.

Starlite are less $.  I have Pelican cases, a buddy bought a starlite.  His case is VERY difficult to open.

I would never buy starlite.

Do an internet search... You should find a fairly consistent low price, and shipping will be the big variable.

I love my 1750...  I can fit 2 full size rifles along with some accessories into mine.

I use only pelican. I think they hold up better if you work them hard. Pelican guarantee;
You Break It, We Replace It…Forever.
botachtactical.com/pe17seprca.html      They have "best price guarantee" and free shipping.

I have both and either work fine and give good protection.  The starlights can be harder to open, but they cost less and work just as well.  Check ebay for the occassional deal.

I just bought a SKB 4009 double carbine case and it is great, they just upgraded the latches and handles... plus they have a $1500 content coverage plus the unlimited lifetime warranty on the case. I called SKB about it and they said that if any of my contents are damaged in transport, say by an airline I just need to provide a copy of a valid damage claim and photos of the damage (digital or other wise) and they will pay above and beyond up to $1500 for what ever the airline, train, bus, or boat won't cover. I am in love with my new case plus the latches are nicer than anything I have seen on a pelican or starlight by far.

Here is a picture from their website: http://www.skbcases.com/sports/product/shooting/art/4009.jpg

Anyhoo, thought I would mention it since I didn't see it here.

gotta go clean the garage,
