I want to give my father a rifle from my C&R collection. I live in Arkansas and he live in Louisiana and does not have a C&R. What would be the proper way for the transfer to occur?
Thanks! |

Quoted:
You would sign it out of your bound book to yourself. Then ship it to a FFL near him to do the transfer. He would log it out to the FFL in Louisiana. That's who he is transferring the rifle to. He could also log it directly to his father if his father visited him at his licensed premises. |

As long as the transaction occurs at the address on my FFL. |

The "disposition" of said firearm. If you log it out to yourself and BATF asks to see it what are you going to show them? Logging a firearm out to yourself and then shipping it off to someone else is illegal. Dutch |

Scenario:
I log a C&R weapon out of my book to myself and modify it taking it out of original configuration. Time goes by and I sell the weapon to someone else...ATF asks you to produce the weapon..what then? I see your point about logging it out to the recieving FFL if you ship it and I agree. I also agree it is illegal to log it out of your book and send it to a non-ffl, but sending it to a ffl for the transfer isn't legal?, boy this is confusing !
I'll have to re-read the book. |

I'll have to re-read the book. Isn't the 03 by definition is a personal license. There is no logging it out to yourself as everything in it belongs to you personally anyway. |
