I am looking for a gunsmith just about anywhere in the CONUS that will thread a mini-14 - Appearantly it is not easy to remove the barrel from the rec.

Any suggestions?

you can do it yourself , midway sells the kit , die and a guide fairly cheap.

Please don't if you are ever going to consider a suppressor. A piloted die will never (repeat never) give you threads that are adequate in alignment or concentricity for a suppressor.

david at liberty suppressors cut (SBR'ed) and threaded a mini14 sidefolder for me.  shot a lot with a custom can he made for me, on it.  no worries.
highly recommend.

pic in my avatar is another mini14 that greatwestgunsmithing did.  pretty sure he's not in business anymore thought.  threads on that one were a little "short" (.4" I think, as opposed to .6") but worked well.

while you're at it, I'd strongly suggest cutting your mini14 barrel back to legal limit.  helps get some of that flex out of it (if its an old 'pencil' barrel).

FWIW, I dont think the mini14 suppresses well.  my personal opinion is due to the action.  also pretty gassy too.
for best results, make sure you have front/rear buffers in the gun.  helps the CLANK some.

the one in the SCAR was 16.25" and done by greatwestgunsmithing
the stainless sidefolder was the one done by liberty
the middle two were cut/pinned on
