I ordered a couple of adjustable wrenches from Amazon that have very narrow/tapered edges where the wrench engages the nut/bolt/whatever.
They arrived yesterday but we had Scouts last night, so I haven't tried them yet. If I get to use them tonight I'll chime back in. (I got two because one of the barrels I've yet to deal with is a Kel-Tec RFB, and it has a tight OEM muzzle device/jam nut combo with very little clearance width on the flats of either.  )

I had to make a wrench for a bull barrel rifle to fit a YHM suppressor mount.
Standard wrenches were not thin enough |

I have run into this before. I actually found some thinner ones at Walmart. Took what. I had and just compared them.

thanks, after you check them out, would you share links? Also, how do yall recommend supporting a bolt gun? Seems like all I can think of is the barrel in a vise with some protective jaws |

If you know what size you need, check for wrenches used on bicycles. Cone wrenches are one style that are thin...it's what I used on my PS90.
