Say you have a .223 or .308 rifle and stock with standard ammo it does 160-165 dBa (seems to be both calibers are roughly the same volume.)
If you add a suppressor, how much dBa will it drop?

Just a guess based on some published numbers, but it seems like 25-30 dBA is the normal range.

SureFire claims that their suppressors will reduce sound pressure levels to below the OSHA hearing safe rating of 140 dB even with 10.5" barrels and firing M855. It will still be loud, especially with supersonic ammo.

28-35 depending on the can. Ejection port noise is still significant, earpro is recommended for anything more than a few shots outdoors.
