Quick question on suppressing a SBR:

Do I need to buy 2 tax stamps to do this (one for a SBR, one for a suppressor)?

if its a removable suppressor so barrel length on the AR itself is under 16", then yes.

Each lower or complete SBR you want to register is $200 per item. Same goes for the suppressor.

What about a 14.5" barrel w/ a pinned suppressor?  (OAL >16")
Would it have to be registered as just a suppressor or both?

How about an integrally suppressed sbr? (OAL<16")
(integrally suppressed sbr = 2 stamps? or only one for suppressor or sbr? which?)

Would it be cheaper to have someone make an integrally suppressed sbr upper
than to purchase them separately?  Looks like "maybe so" to me.

If the can is permantly attached, then it's one stamp for the can only.

One stamp for the SBR if the suppressor is permantle a part of the gun

If you were going that route, you may want to look into doing what I did. Use a QD can that has a QD mount long enough to bring your 14.5" barrel up to 16.1" with the can removed. Have that permanently mounted and you have a non-sbr upper to mount your suppressor to.

Other than that, permanently mounting the suppressor would be the only way to avoid the SBR tax, and I really don't think that is something you want to do.
